2022 - Present

Project Description

Spiegel im Spiegel is a musical piece by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. The name roughly translates to "Mirror within a mirror"

My involvement in this project began in 2022 through Zion Jackson and THE OFFICE performing arts + film, and has continued under Sophie Shakleton and Sound Postings.

My responsibilities have included researching, arranging, and experimenting with various images that embody the idea of our universe as a mirror.

We began with the spectacular images of our universe from the Hubble and James Webb telescopes, and found parallels between the patterns of the cosmos and the patterns of nature of Earth. Macro and micro!

Soon after the event in Paris, we began preparing an evolution of the sequence for another event in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. This sequence includes images from photographer Austin Mann, and aimed to connect deeply with the specific region of the performance.

Most recently, there was a performance at the United Nations Headquarters in NYC for the Sustainable Development Goals "Halftime Show"

We are now working on further evolutions of the sequence to be used on tour around the world, and it has been my distinct pleasure and honor to do this work!
